Why You Should Paddle
Need to exercise, but can’t stand the thought of going to the gym? Enjoy training outdoors, but running has taken its toll on your joints? Want to get fitter, but can’t imagine yourself in Lycra? Then paddling could be the sport for you.
The beauty of paddling is that there is something for everyone
– you can push yourself as hard as you want. It can be competitive or recreational. It can be a social hobby or a way of escaping the crowds and connecting with nature. However you want to pursue paddling, the good news is that any way you stroke it, paddling is good for your overall health and well-being.
Paddling is the intersection of water, fun and fitness.
A great social outlet, not to mention an all-over workout burning an average 400 calories an hour, paddling is a refreshing way to get and stay fit. Paddling with proper technique has the added benefit of being easy on the joints. There’s no jarring impact which makes it a great lifetime sport that many seasoned paddlers enjoy with their kids and grandkids.
Paddling is an enjoyable way to get in shape, connect with friends and family and get a whole new perspective on nature. There’s also no better activity to help you achieve core strength, a flat stomach, flexibility and heart health.
We want you and all your friends, family and colleagues to enjoy the many benefits that this great sport has to offer. You’ll be in good company. A lot of famous—and millions of not-so-famous—people have made paddling a big part of their lives as a fitness alternative or just plain bonding time with loved ones. Indeed, some big names have been spotted paddling: Bono, Pink, the Jonas Brothers, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Ashton Kutcher, Sharon Stone, Penelope Cruz, Gisele Bundchen, Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres.
There’s no better time to get out on the water. You’ll certainly be in stellar company.

I’m one of those not-so-famous paddlers that love kayaking. In addition to the reasons you listed, I love kayaking because I am so close to the water and yet not in it. It gives me a very special feeling of connection to the water without being in it.
